Principal's Report
Welcome to our Week 6/7 Newsletter. It is hard to believe that we are over halfway through the term. It has certainly been a busy first half to the term, with much more learning and fun to come. In week 5 we celebrated Book Week, this year’s theme being Book an Adventure. It was great to see some of the fun activities our students participated in to celebrate Book Week. This was accompanied by our costume parade on Friday, it was great to see all of the creative, interesting and inventive costumes. Thank you so much to our students, parents and staff for putting in so much effort to make it a fun morning.
Planning 2026
Part of our preparation for 2026 is class structures and placements. This can often be a stressful time for school staff and families. While we are planning class structures and placements it is important that we have as much information as possible to make informed decisions that best meet the needs of our students and school. Firstly, I ask that any families that are not planning on returning to Byford PS in 2026 to please let the office know. This will ensure that we have accurate projected enrolments and will hopefully reduce the risk of having to restructure classes once the school year commences. Secondly, if you have any class placement requests based on the educational needs of your child please also forward these onto me. It is important to note that with over 420 students it may not be possible to meet all requests, but all will be considered. Please email this required information to Byford.PS@education.wa.edu.au and attention it to Jody Harrington by Friday 17 October 2025.
Father’s Day Breakfast Club and Father’s Day Stalls
The P & C Year 6 Camp 2026 Fundraising Committee hosted the annual Father’s Day Stall this week on Wednesday 3rd September and Thursday 4th September. Thank you to our P & C volunteers for running the stall and to everyone for supporting it. We hope all our Dad's enjoy their gifts.
Our amazing student support team (Daniela & Daniel) hosted a special Father’s Day Breakfast Club yesterday. It was great to see so many Dad's and important male figures attend our breakfast. What a fun morning.
BPS Faction Athletics
We hope you can join us for our school Faction Athletics Carnival in Week 8. Jumps & Throws will take place on Tuesday 9th September. This will be followed by our full day program on Friday 12th September. A program of events will be posted to class dojo next week. A huge thank you to Mrs Paxton for her co-ordination of the day, and to all members of staff for the weeks of training and organisation of teams within their faction.
EA Appreciation Week 1 – 5 September
This week we take the time to stop, celebrate and acknowledge our amazing team of Education Assistants.
