Welcome to our Week 6 Newsletter. It is hard to believe that we are halfway through our last term of the school year. Already this term we have participated in many activities, be sure to check out the save the dates below to find out what else is happening this term.
Planning 2025
We are well underway with our planning and preparation for 2025. Part of this preparation for 2025 is class structures and placements. This can often be a stressful time for school staff and families. While we are planning class structures and placements it is important that we have as much information as possible to make informed decisions that best meet the needs of our students and school. Firstly, I ask that any families that are not planning on returning to Byford PS in 2025 to please let the office know. This will ensure that we have accurate projected enrolments and will hopefully reduce the risk of having to restructure classes again once the school year commences. Secondly, if you have any class placement requests based on the educational needs of your child please also forward these onto me. It is important to note that with over 410 students it may not be possible to meet all requests, but all will be considered. Please email this required information to Byford.PS@education.wa.edu.au and attention it to Jody Harrington. I ask that all requests be sent to me by Monday 25th November. No requests will be considered after this time. Class Lists for 2025 will be displayed at school during the last week of term. Thank you for your support.
Year 6 Camp
Our Year 6 students will head to camp next week in Dwellingup. We wish them the most wonderful time and hope they enjoy the many fun activities planned for them. A huge thank you to the 2024 Year 6 Camp fundraising committee for the outstanding job they did in raising money over the last twelve months to contribute to camp costs. Thank you also to everyone who supported the fundraising opportunities.
Booklists 2025 & Voluntary Contributions and Charges Schedule 2025
The BPS Board has recently met to endorse the Booklist supplier and Voluntary Contributions and Charges Schedule for 2025.
Our Booklist provider for 2025 will be Campion Education. Details on how to access Booklists will be sent home via Class Dojo soon. There will also be hard copies available for collection at the front office for those who prefer it this way. A copy of each years Booklist will also be placed on the school website.
The Voluntary Contributions and Charges schedule for 2025 will be sent home with students next week.
Open School Board Meeting
Each year the BPS School Board has one open meeting where all members of the school community are invited to come along to attend the meeting to see what the Board is all about. This year we will be holding our open Board meeting on Thursday 28th November, starting at 3:15pm in the School Library. All are welcome to attend.
End of Year Concert
I am pleased to advise that the End of Year Concert will be held at the school again this year, out on the oval. The date that has been set for the concert is Wednesday 4th December, and our theme this year is Let’s Celebrate. More detail including times, seating arrangements and a program will be sent home closer to the time. We look forward to celebrating another successful school year with you.
New Transportable Building
Our school continues to grow and we are projecting that we will begin the 2025 school year with an approximate enrolment of 420 students. We have a new transportable building arriving this year to be ready for day one 2025. The building will be placed where the cricket nets are currently located, and you will notice that temporary fencing has been erected around the site already. What an exciting time for our school.

So far this term has been a whirlwind of activity, with each week packed full of swimming lessons, assessments, camps, school reports, graduation and concert practice. The pace has been relentless, but there’s a real sense of accomplishment as we move from one task to the next.
Swimming lessons have been a highlight, with students working hard to improve their strokes, endurance, and confidence in the water. It's been inspiring to see the progress they've made, especially as some of them conquer their fears and gain new skills. The lessons are physically demanding, but the students are enthusiastic and determined, always pushing themselves to swim a little further or dive a little deeper.
In addition to swimming, students have been working hard completing assessments for reporting. School reports are another key focus of the term. Teachers have been working hard to finalize comments, detailing each student’s progress, strengths, and areas for improvement. It’s been an intense time of reflection, ensuring that the reports are a true reflection of each student's achievements.
The Year 6 camp in Week 7 promises to be an unforgettable adventure filled with outdoor activities, teamwork, and skill-building, giving students a chance to bond and grow outside the classroom. Camp will be closely followed by Year 6 Graduation Ceremony marking a memorable milestone, celebrating students' hard work, friendships, and achievements, as they prepare for the next chapter with pride and anticipation
Finally, concert practice has been in full swing. Classes across the school have been refining their performances and preparing for what promises to be a spectacular end-of-term concert.

Zooper Doopers are continually being sold on Thursdays for 50c each. We’re always in need of Zooper Doopers to continue this fundraising venture and are very appreciative of donations. If you can help, please drop Zooper Doopers to the senior block.
Containers for Change
Please consider saving your drink bottles/cans and dropping them off to your nearest Containers for Change depot to be recycled and donating the proceeds to the Yr 6 Fundraising Committee. It’s so easy to do, just take your bag of cans/drink bottles to the Containers for Change depot and quote this number C10425624 to the cashier and you’ll be helping the environment and reducing the cost of the 2025 Yr 6 camp. Containers for Change bins are also located at the school in the undercover area. So please remind your child/ren to recycle their juice boxes at lunch time too. The 2025 Fundraising Committee thank you for your continued support.

A ‘No Hat, Limited Outside Play’ policy is enforced at Byford Primary School all year. Parents can assist us by reinforcing the need for protection from the sun by ensuring that students have a wide brim hat. Hats can be purchased through the school uniform shop next to Room 3. Students who do not have a hat are instructed to play under sheltered areas such as the Undercover Area near the canteen. Caps are not acceptable as they do not provide adequate protection to the ears and back of the neck from the sun.
