Principal's Report
Welcome to our Week 6 Newsletter. It is hard to believe that we are over halfway through the term. It has certainly been a busy first half to the term, with much more learning and fun to come. This week we celebrate Book Week, this year’s theme being Reading is Magic. It has been great to see some of the fun activities our students have been participating in this week to celebrate Book Week. This was accompanied by our costume parade on Tuesday, and it was great seeing all of the creative, interesting and inventive costumes. Thank you so much to our students, parents and staff for putting in so much effort to make it a fun morning.
Planning 2025
Part of our preparation for 2025 is class structures and placements. This can often be a stressful time for school staff and families. While we are planning class structures and placements it is important that we have as much information as possible to make informed decisions that best meet the needs of our students and school. Firstly, I ask that any families that are not planning on returning to Byford PS in 2025 to please let the office know. This will ensure that we have accurate projected enrolments and will hopefully reduce the risk of having to restructure classes once the school year commences. Secondly, if you have any class placement requests based on the educational needs of your child please also forward these onto me. It is important to note that with over 400 students it may not be possible to meet all requests, but all will be considered. Please email this required information to Byford.PS@education.wa.edu.au and attention it to Jody Harrington.
BPS P & C Celebrating 40 Years
This week was the 40th Anniversary of the Byford Primary School P and C Association. As you all know the P & C support our school in many ways including running essential services such as the Canteen and Uniform Shop, in addition to varied fundraising activities and events that are not only fun for our students but raise money to give back to the school for equipment, resources and building and ground improvements. We are so thankful to everyone that has contributed to the P & C over the last 40 years and we thank you for your service to our school. A formal event to celebrate will take place later in the year.
BPS Faction Athletics
We hope you can join us for our school Faction Athletics Carnival next week. Jumps & Throws will take place on Tuesday 27th August. This will be followed by our full day program on Friday 30th August. A program of events will be posted to class dojo over the next day or so. A huge thank you to Ms Timms for her co-ordination of the day, and to all members of staff for the weeks of training and organisation of teams within their faction.
Edu Dance / Open Night / Book Fair
We look forward to welcoming family and friends to our Edu Dance Concert and Open Night on Monday 16th September. The concert will be the culmination of each classes hard work and practice over the term, and we look forward to seeing each dance. During the concert, the announcement of the School Captains for 2025 will also be made. Following the concert, families are invited into classrooms to see all of the wonderful work students have been doing this term. The Library will also be open for families to visit the Book Fair. This will be a wonderful way to end a very busy term. We hope to see you all there.
