Principal's Report
Welcome back to Term 3. I hope all of our students and families had a chance to enjoy the recent school holiday break even with all of the wild weather and rain we experienced. We have hit the ground running with a very busy start to the term, and there is a lot more learning and fun to come. This term we celebrate Book Week and Father’s Day. In addition to this, Term 3 always sees sporting events take centre stage with our Faction and Interschool Athletics Carnivals. Edu-Dance practice is well underway and we will finish the term with our Edu Dance Concert and Open Night in week 9 of term.
Staff Retirements
It is with mixed emotions we inform our school community of a recent retirement and upcoming retirement of two cherished members of our staff. At the end of last term our wonderful Library Officer Mrs Innes announced her retirement after working in the BPS school Library for many, many years. It was also recently announced that our Byford Community Kindy Teacher Mrs Marshall will be retiring after 43 years in education, and 28 years at the Byford Community Kindy. Both ladies have contributed so much to our school over the years and will be dearly missed. We wish them all the best for the next part of their lives. Information on a farewell for Mrs Marshall has been posted to the Byford Community Kindy Facebook page.
Projected Enrolments / Planning for 2023
We have reached the time of the year when we start our planning for the following year. At this stage I am just asking if families could please inform the school if they know they will not be returning to Byford PS next year. This information helps us greatly with our planning for staffing and class structures.
In the next Newsletter I will include information on how to submit any class placement requests for your children in 2023.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability.
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- Year of schooling
- Category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- Level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- Formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- Consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- Develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides states and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students in ensured.
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal https://www.nccd.edu.au
