Welcome to our first Newsletter for Term Four. It is hard to believe that we are in the last term of the school year, and it is certainly going to be another busy one with lots of end of year activities and events planned. Already this term we have celebrated our school’s centenary and swimming lessons are underway. Check out the save the dates below to find out what else is happening this term.

Planning 2022

We have already commenced our planning and preparation for 2022. Part of this preparation for 2022 is class structures and placements. This can often be a stressful time for school staff and families. While we are planning class structures and placements it is important that we have as much information as possible to make informed decisions that best meet the needs of our students and school. Firstly, I ask that any families that are not planning on returning to Byford PS in 2022 to please let the office know. This will ensure that we have accurate projected enrolments and will hopefully reduce the risk of having to restructure classes once the school year commences. Secondly, if you have any class placement requests based on the educational needs of your child please also forward these onto me. It is important to note that with over 360 students it may not be possible to meet all requests, but all will be considered. Please email this required information to Byford.PS@education.wa.edu.au and attention it to Jody Harrington. I ask that all requests be sent to me by Friday 19^th November (week 6) so we can finalise class lists and these can be displayed prior to the end of the school year. Thank you for your support.

Centenary Celebration

A huge thank you to everyone that attended and supported the Centenary Celebration for our school last Saturday. The organising committee and I were very pleased with how the event went and how well it was supported by our school community. I would like to acknowledge the work of the Byford PS staff and everyone who contributed to the organising committee over the last twelve months, with special thanks to Michelle Charlton, Kristy Gregory and Diane Peggs for leading this team.

Year 6 Camp

Our Year 6 students are currently on camp enjoying the warmer weather in sunny Broome. They are having a wonderful time already having experienced many fun activities including archery, swimming and camel rides. A huge thank you to the 2021 Year 6 Camp fundraising committee co-ordinated by Hayley Tilbrook for the outstanding job they did in raising money over the last twelve months to contribute to camp costs. Thank you also to everyone who supported the fundraising opportunities. I can’t wait to hear all about the camp when they return.

Faction Captains 2022

Last term our Year 5 students had the opportunity to nominate for School Captains in 2022, and we congratulate Aimee and Mia for being selected for this role. This term, the focus turns to selecting our Faction Captains for 2022. Any interested Year 5 students are asked to submit a nomination letter to Ms Harrington by Monday 1^st November, this will then be followed by speeches which will take place on Wednesday 10^th November. Good luck to our Year 5 students.
