Planning for 2019 - Reminder

Planning for 2019 is well under way. As the area that Byford PS caters for is growing, it is very important that we are aware of students who will be leaving and any new enrolments. This will enable us to plan the correct number of classes for 2019.

I would very much appreciate if you could please let the Front Office know if your child/ren will not be returning to Byford PS in 2019. If you know of any families moving into the area, please encourage them to come and enrol their child/ren as soon as possible.

Nurse News

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is an abnormal sideways curvature of the spine. It can be detected by a simple examination of the back.

The normal spine has three curves – one in the neck, on the upper back and one in the lower back. These curves can be seen from the side, but when you look from behind the spine should appear straight. If the spine has a sideways curve, this is scoliosis.

An information leaflet about Scoliosis has been distributed to all year 6 students. Please read through the information provided and check your child for scoliosis as described in the leaflet.

If you have any concerns, please contact your General Practitioner or Community Health Nurse, Jane Skoll on 9391 2289.

Jump Rope for Heart

Thank you to ALL the students who got involved with Jump Rope for Heart!

A huge thank you for the effort skipping and fundraising for the Jump Rope for Heart program this term. Together we raised $964 and this money will all go towards vital heart research and education programs.

We’ve loved seeing so many smiling faces skipping in Phys Ed lessons and across recess and lunch. Our Jump Off Days were a huge success, you can check out the action in the photos.

Keep up the skipping and thanks again for the hard work!

Chaplain Chatter

Hi everybody and here we are week 9 and almost ready for holidays. What happened? Did I just get dropped off by Dr Who in the Tardis because I’m sure it was only June yesterday?

The holidays are a good time for families to spend together, showing how much they love each other:

  • Say “I love you”
  • Use names when you talk with each other
  • Use appropriate hugs
  • Write how you feel in cards and notes
  • Spend fun times with your kids

These are all simple ways to show people that you love them. Love includes being there no matter what. Give out the 3A’s, attention, affection, affirmation. Love is the combination of attention and affection. Providing for our kids and each other is not enough. Relationships are what truly matter and influence all lives.

Holiday best wishes everyone and stay safe.

Ramp and Roller – Chaplain’s Challenge

Thank you to all the entrants. There has been a great use of imagination and hands on practical skills. Well done boys and girls. Also, a special thank you to Yarnie King from Jarrahdale, for so kindly donating the kites and boomerangs as prizes.

I would also like to thank all parents and helpers this year that have assisted the children with the challenges. It has been so wonderful to see all the amazing things that have been made this year. Your time spent with them will last them their life time.

Well wishes to all for the festive season, have a safe and enjoyable time.
