Thank you to all those who took part in our ANZAC service. Once again Byford PS students made us proud with the way they conduct themselves and our leaders make it a very special event.

We would like to acknowledge Heavenly Scent for donating flowers for this special occasion, we thank you and others in our community for being so generous – all the flowers looked amazing.

Kindergarten & Pre-Primary - Applications to Enrol for 2019

Byford Primary School is now taking enrolment applications for students entering Kindergarten and Pre Primary in 2019. Byford Primary School will be offering a Kindergarten program in 2019. It is likely that the Byford Community Kindergarten will also be operational for 2019. When completing an application to enrol for Kindergarten, parents will be asked to nominate which program they wish to apply for.

Children born between July 1 2014 & June 30 2015 are eligible to apply for Public School Kindergarten.
Children born between
July 1 2013 & June 30 2014 are eligible to apply for Public School Pre Primary.

When making an application for enrolment, please bring a copy of;

  • Your child’s birth certificate
  • Passport and Visa Grant Notice if born overseas
  • Proof of residential address (eg utility bill, lease agreement);
  • ACIR immunisation records, and
  • Family Court Orders (if applicable)

Please click on the link below for more information regarding Kindergarten 2019 and our Application Form. This information is also available on our website below or can be obtained from the front office.

https://byfordps.wa.edu.au/

Application forms for Pre Primary 2019 will be sent out to our current Kindergarten students. Parents of children currently attending Kindergarten programs this year (2018) must apply at the school for Pre Primary placement in 2019 if you wish your child to continue attending Byford Primary School. Please note, students residing outside our catchment area may still apply, however your application may not be successful.

Students in Pre Primary in 2018 will automatically roll over into Year 1 in 2019 and beyond. If your child will not be returning to Byford Primary School in 2019, please notify the School Office.

It should be noted that an application does not confirm placement for any child – selection criteria may apply. Application details will be used to assist the school in organising classes and placements for next year. Parents of children who are offered placement at Byford Primary School will be asked to complete formal enrolment details at that time. Unsuccessful applicants will be offered a place in a school as close to their residential location as possible or be referred to their local school in the case of Pre Primary students.

Applications required by Friday 20th July 2018.

All applicants will be advised of their child’s placement during Term 3 this year. Enrolment applications can be made through the school office between the hours of 9.30am to 2:30pm.

Never Stop Reading

The Education Department is introducing an initiative to encourage parents of children from Years 3 to 6 to continue reading aloud with their children as they progress through primary school.

Never stop reading to your child, even when they can read for themselves!

Reading is a fundamental skill your child will use for the rest of their life – so why stop when they’re just getting started?

Building a love of reading in your child by reading aloud at home strengthens their language, vocabulary and comprehension skills, and improves their social skills and confidence as you listen to them read. The quality time you will also spend with your child raises their mood and sense of wellbeing, and creates those special moments you and they will always cherish.

Build a love of reading in your child and give them the best start for a life of learning and discovery.

Byford Primary School has been identified to receive an upgrade to the student toilets in the quadrangle area. There are limited funds so the upgrade will commence with the girls toilet block and then hopefully progress to the boys toilet block.

Room 12

Cockburn ARC

Students from Rooms 9 and 10 have been participating in a behaviour management program within the classroom. Those students who reached and maintained 100 points were eligible to attend the end of term reward at Cockburn ARC. The children had a fabulous time in the water and on the slides. It was a great way to reward good behaviour.

Chaplain Chatter

Here we go the start of a new and exciting term. I trust that you all had an enjoyable break.

There will be a BBQ held before school in week 3 for parents to have a bit of a get together, more information coming soon.

Quality Character #4 Decisiveness. To do what is right based on accurate facts, wise counsel, and clearly defined goals. Decisiveness is based on wise and careful consideration of all available options. Those who avoid decision making decide to let circumstances and others make decisions for them. The little decisions you make now determine the big decisions you will make later. The badger is a quick decision maker when facing a predator. If it decides not to flee, it will expend all its energy in the fight. How are you at decision making?

Have a great week and stay safe.
