Welcome to our Week 6/7 Newsletter. It is hard to believe that we are over halfway through the term. It has certainly been a busy first half to the term, with much more learning and fun to come. In week 5 we celebrated Book Week, this year’s theme being Book an Adventure. It was great to see some of the fun activities our students participated in to celebrate Book Week. This was accompanied by our costume parade on Friday, it was great to see all of the creative, interesting and inventive costumes. Thank you so much to our students, parents and staff for putting in so much effort to make it a fun morning.
Planning 2026
Part of our preparation for 2026 is class structures and placements. This can often be a stressful time for school staff and families. While we are planning class structures and placements it is important that we have as much information as possible to make informed decisions that best meet the needs of our students and school. Firstly, I ask that any families that are not planning on returning to Byford PS in 2026 to please let the office know. This will ensure that we have accurate projected enrolments and will hopefully reduce the risk of having to restructure classes once the school year commences. Secondly, if you have any class placement requests based on the educational needs of your child please also forward these onto me. It is important to note that with over 420 students it may not be possible to meet all requests, but all will be considered. Please email this required information to Byford.PS@education.wa.edu.au and attention it to Jody Harrington by Friday 17 October 2025.

This term, our Year 4 students in Room 9 have been exploring the fascinating world of tessellations in Maths. We've learned how shapes can fit together without gaps or overlaps and created our own colourful tessellation artworks. The students loved discovering patterns in nature and everyday objects. It’s been a fun and creative way to combine geometry and art!

Mrs Ramsey & Mrs Fletcher
Classroom Teachers
Room 6 enjoyed the festivities of celebrating Book Week. We read Bowerbird Blues by Aura Parker before reinventing the story and imagining that we were an animal of a different colour. We wrote about where we would travel and what we might collect, in the end discovering our own happiness, just as the Bowerbird discovered his. As a class we completed a Book Week themed collaborative colour in, that Miss Clements cut and put on display in our class and we had the most fun of all, on the Friday, when we got to dress up with Mrs Podgorny and the rest of the school as our favourite book characters.

Book Week 2025 was celebrated on Friday 22nd August with the theme "Book an Adventure".
Congratulations to the following students, their imagination and costume creativity won themselves a book voucher to spend at our 2025 Book Fair.

Wow what amazing costumes for Book Week! Well done to all that dressed up for the occasion, it was great to see such a range of costumes from both students and staff.

On behalf of Byford Primary and the Student Support team, we would like to send out a big thank you to each and every one of the parents and students that attended our special Father's Day breakfast this morning. It was so great to see so many families coming together to celebrate such a special day. This event would not have been possible without the donations from our amazing families here at Byford Primary and Woolworths for supplying the fresh bread rolls.
An extra special congratulations to Tyler O from Kindy for winning our 1st raffle prize, a Bunnings gift voucher and chocolates. And Archer M in Room 2 for winning our 2nd raffle prize, a giant box of Favourite's chocolate.
We hope you all have an extra special Father's Day and enjoy your weekend.

A ‘No Hat, Limited Outside Play’ policy is enforced at Byford Primary School all year. Parents can assist us by reinforcing the need for protection from the sun by ensuring that students have a wide brim hat. Hats can be purchased through the school uniform shop next to Room 3. Students who do not have a hat are instructed to play under sheltered areas such as the Undercover Area near the canteen. Caps are not acceptable as they do not provide adequate protection to the ears and back of the neck from the sun.

Enrolments are now open, and families can enrol online.
