Principal’s Report

Dear Families and Friends

Welcome to the final newsletter for Term 1. It is hard to believe that the term as gone so quickly. The children have worked hard this term to produce some great work. I have seen many examples of the ‘Byford Way’ on display. We are having new signs put up in the undercover area to remind us what the ‘Byford Way’ means.

Bike Safety

In the last couple of weeks, I have been speaking to the students about being safe on their bikes. Please speak to your children about the importance of wearing a helmet as we have a few who have it hanging on the handle bars and not wearing it on their head! I have made a few people push their bikes. It is also important that students do not ride down the middle of road while showing how well (or not) they can do a wheelie. I encourage children to ride bikes, but it is important that they do so safely.

Term 2

The first day back for students is Tuesday 30th April. Our first assembly for term 2 is Wednesday 8th May and Thursday 9th May at 6.30pm is the P&C meeting. Term 2 is when Year 3 and 5 children take part in NAPLAN (National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy). This year our students will complete this online (except for the writing component) from Monday 13th May to Friday 24th May. School photos are scheduled for Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th June.

P&C President

We are still looking for a P&C President. All the other positions are filled and planning for many fundraising events are in hand. Please contact me or the P&C (ByfordPrimaryPandC@hotmail.com) if you would like some more information or are interested.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day was on Thursday 21st March. It was great to see so many people dressed in orange to help celebrate diversity, inclusiveness, respect and belonging.

Interschool T-Ball & T20 Cricket

Well done to all students who participated in the T20 competition at West Byford and the T-Ball competition at Woodland Grove on Friday 22nd March. It was a great day and all students involved should be very proud of their efforts. It was great to see comradery amongst both the girls and boys teams with a high level of sportsmanship and some awesome skills in both the Cricket and T-Ball games. There were certainly some big hits, classic catches and run outs!

We will be having our ANZAC Day service on Friday 12th at 9:00am. As in previous years, if you have any flowers that can be used to create wreaths, please send them to school on the Friday morning.
