Semester One Student Reports
Student reports will be sent home on Wednesday 27th June. If you would like to meet with the class teacher or any specialist teacher (i.e. Music, Art, Science, Health, PE) to discuss your child’s report, please contact the office to organise a suitable time. It is important that you discuss the report with your child – especially their ‘effort’ marks and the teacher’s comments.
Chickenpox
We have had some cases of chickenpox reported. Chickenpox is a common viral infection. Symptoms include fever, fatigue, and a generalised rash characterised by small vesicles (blisters) that rupture to from crusts. Chickenpox is infectious from 2 days before the rash appears to 5 days after, when the vesicles have formed crusts. Children are excluded from school for at least 5 days after vesicles (rash) appear and until the vesicles have formed crusts.
Kindergarten & Pre-Primary - Applications to Enrol for 2019
Byford Primary School is now taking enrolment applications for students entering Kindergarten and Pre Primary in 2019. Byford Primary School will be offering a Kindergarten program in 2019. It is likely that the Byford Community Kindergarten will also be operational for 2019. When completing an application to enrol for Kindergarten, parents will be asked to nominate which program they wish to apply for.
Children born between July 1 2014 & June 30 2015 are eligible to apply for Public School Kindergarten.
Children born between July 1 2013 & June 30 2014 are eligible to apply for Public School Pre Primary.
When making an application for enrolment, please bring a copy of;
- Your child’s birth certificate
- Passport and Visa Grant Notice if born overseas
- Proof of residential address (eg utility bill, lease agreement);
- ACIR immunisation records, and
- Family Court Orders (if applicable)
Please click on the link below for more information regarding Kindergarten 2019 and our Application Form. This information is also available on our website below or can be obtained from the front office.
https://byfordps.wa.edu.au/
Application forms for Pre Primary 2019 have been sent out to our current Kindergarten students. Parents of children currently attending Kindergarten programs this year (2018) must apply at the school for Pre Primary placement in 2019 if you wish your child to continue attending Byford Primary School. Please note, students residing outside our catchment area may still apply, however your application may not be successful.
Students in Pre Primary in 2018 will automatically roll over into Year 1 in 2019 and beyond. If your child will not be returning to Byford Primary School in 2019, please notify the School Office.
It should be noted that an application does not confirm placement for any child – selection criteria may apply. Application details will be used to assist the school in organising classes and placements for next year. Parents of children who are offered placement at Byford Primary School will be asked to complete formal enrolment details at that time. Unsuccessful applicants will be offered a place in a school as close to their residential location as possible or be referred to their local school in the case of Pre Primary students.
Applications required by Friday 20th July 2018.
All applicants will be advised of their child’s placement during Term 3 this year. Enrolment applications can be made through the school office between the hours of 9.30am to 2:30pm.

All students MUST have a library bag when borrowing books from the Library. From the 30th June 2018 plastic shopping bags will not be in use. Please make sure your child has a suitable library bag that will protect our precious books from damage.
Room 11 – Kindy / Pre-primary
We have been busy learning the letters and sounds from the Soundwaves program. An activity from Soundwaves is to make a picture of ourselves and write the sentence I am……. We have made a book using the pictures for our class to read.

Chaplain Chatter
Hi everyone, aahh what week are we already? I’m starting to think that time is quicker than the “Flash!”
Quality Character #7 Discretion. Using wisdom to avoid damaging attitudes, words, and actions. Discretion is knowing when it is best to say nothing at all. Discretion is knowing how to describe unpleasant things in a pleasant way. Having discretion shows you have an understanding and listening heart, it can distinguish between right and wrong, treasures wisdom and turns knowledge into helpful advice. Discretion looks past problems and considers the potential of a person or project. Food for thought.
Have a brilliant week everyone, take care.
