Principal’s Report
Dear Families and Friends
Anzac Day
Our ANZAC service will take place on Wednesday 2nd May at 9:00am. As in previous years, if you have any flowers that can be used to create wreaths, please send them to school on the Wednesday morning. It would also be wonderful to have a couple of parent volunteers to help coordinate the making of the wreaths that morning. If you are available, please let Ms Doncon know. We look forward to seeing you at the service.
Kindergarten & Pre-Primary - Applications to Enrol for 2019
Byford Primary School is now taking enrolment applications for students entering Kindergarten and Pre Primary in 2019. Byford Primary School will be offering a Kindergarten program in 2019. It is likely that the Byford Community Kindergarten will also be operational for 2019. When completing an application to enrol for Kindergarten, parents will be asked to nominate which program they wish to apply for.
Children born between July 1 2014 & June 30 2015 are eligible to apply for Public School Kindergarten.
Children born between July 1 2013 & June 30 2014 are eligible to apply for Public School Pre Primary.
When making an application for enrolment, please bring a copy of;
- Your child’s birth certificate
- Passport and Visa Grant Notice if born overseas
- Proof of residential address (eg utility bill, lease agreement);
- ACIR immunisation records, and
- Family Court Orders (if applicable)
Please click on the link below for more information regarding Kindergarten 2019 and our Application Form. This information is also available on our website below or can be obtained from the front office.
https://byfordps.wa.edu.au/
Application forms for Pre Primary 2019 will be sent out to our current Kindergarten students. Parents of children currently attending Kindergarten programs this year (2018) must apply at the school for Pre Primary placement in 2019 if you wish your child to continue attending Byford Primary School. Please note, students residing outside our catchment area may still apply, however your application may not be successful.
Students in Pre Primary in 2018 will automatically roll over into Year 1 in 2019 and beyond. If your child will not be returning to Byford Primary School in 2019, please notify the School Office.
It should be noted that an application does not confirm placement for any child – selection criteria may apply. Application details will be used to assist the school in organising classes and placements for next year. Parents of children who are offered placement at Byford Primary School will be asked to complete formal enrolment details at that time. Unsuccessful applicants will be offered a place in a school as close to their residential location as possible or be referred to their local school in the case of Pre Primary students.
Applications required by Friday 20th July 2018.
All applicants will be advised of their child’s placement during Term 3 this year. Enrolment applications can be made through the school office between the hours of 9.30am to 2:30pm.

Good Standing – Reward Day
Congratulations to all those students who have shown the Byford Way, made positive decisions and kept their Good Standing during Term 1. As a reward for being positive members of our school, those students enjoyed an awesome ‘Bonza Bounce’ on an inflatable obstacle course bouncy castle on Friday 6th April. The reward was a fantastic day as we quickly approach the end of a busy Term 1.
It will be great to see those students who were unfortunately unable to join in on our reward, improve their behaviour and work hard to keep their Good Standing in Term 2.

Merit Certificates
Congratulations to all students who received Merit Awards. Well done and keep up the good work!

Chaplain Chatter
Hi everyone, I hope that you are healthy and fit or fighting. Our minds and will power can push us a long way.
Quality Character #3 Compassion. To love deeply, to have mercy, to have tender affection. Sympathy is feeling sorry for someone who is hurting, empathy feels the pain when someone is hurting but compassion does something about the pain. Having compassion makes a difference. A herd of zebras will slow its pace when one member is injured so it can stay together while the wounded member recovers. It is a practical expression of genuine love. Do we ever slow down for others? Food for thought.
Take care and smile.
