Principal’s Report
Dear Families and Friends
We have had a very busy couple of weeks. Unfortunately over the weekend we had a few large branches fall from our trees. I will be getting the trees inspected as some of them have white ants and have been weakened by disease. The ‘experts’ will then advise me in regards to a treatment plan.
The new water pipe work is currently being installed and then the additional fire hydrants will be situated on both Mary Street and Amy Street sides of the school.
Our Pre Primary to Year 2 students have concluded their OnEntry testing. This testing gives teachers very valuable information which guides their teaching and learning programs. On Thursday 29th March these teachers will meet for the day and discuss what the results mean for the whole school and if there is anything in particular that we need to focus on in order to improve. Our teachers from Years 3 – 6 will meet on Tuesday 20th March to look at results of testing that they have competed during the first part of the term.
Kindy Transportable Building
There was much excitement on Wednesday 7th March when our transportable building was delivered. It came in two pieces and some students were lucky enough to see it craned into place. The shed was also delivered. Work has now commenced to complete the building and shed and to connect all the utilities. We are still hopeful for an end of term completion date so that we can move our Kindy students in for day one of Term 2.
Special Treat Day
On Thursday 29th March 2018 students will be able to order Chicken Treat for our ‘Special Treat Day’. A note will be sent home with students next week.
WAFL Visit
Some of our students were lucky enough to participate in an Aussie Rules football clinic run by the WAFL. Our students were taught some skills and also had a lot of fun. Thanks to Mr Way and Miss Marchetti for organising this.
Harmony Day Wed 21st March
This year we will be celebrating Harmony Day on Wed 21st March. We will begin the day with an assembly and then the students will participate in a number of activities. The celebrations will conclude at lunch time where we will join together to have lunch. Students will return to classes as normal after lunch. A note with more information will be sent home.
Easter Holidays
Just a reminder that school is closed Good Friday 30th March, Easter Monday (2nd April) and Easter Tuesday (3rd April). Students return to school on Wed 4th April. There will be no Easter Hat Parade this year as we have a number of other events occurring around the same time.

Chaplain Chatter
Hi everyone, I hope you had a great weekend, how are those letters to your future self going?
Quality Character #1 Love. A foundational quality of good character. Genuine love is giving without any expectation of personal gain. Love is the most important character quality. Love perseveres with patience and bravely endures, love is kind, love does not envy, love does not boast, love does not exaggerate, it does not flaunt itself, it’s not demanding, it’s not evil, love rejoices, love is loyal, love is honest, and love forgives. The male emperor penguin demonstrates genuine love by standing almost motionless for over two months in below-zero temperatures to provide warmth necessary to incubate a single egg. He can go up to 120 days without eating!! True love sacrifices self for others. Food for thought.
Take care and I hope you have a fantastic week.
