A huge congratulations to the students on a successful term one, we have been very pleased with their attitudes towards learning and the work they have completed.
ANZAC Day Service
Byford PS will be holding our ANZAC Ceremony next week, Friday 11th April. The service will be held on the Blue Court starting at 9am. Each class will be laying a wreath, so we ask that on the morning of the service parents/carers send to school a small posy of flowers that can be used to create wreaths. Any parent or family members who are available to help with wreath making is welcome to join us in the Undercover Area from 8:00 – 8:50am. As part of our Maths Trek program in ECE 3, we have been learning about Positional Language. Students had to describe the position and the location of themselves in relation to objects in our playground. Students had a great time finding and describing where they were in the ECE area.

Wednesday lunchtimes in the art/science room we have held Art Club, and it has been a refuge from the heat this first term back at school. Students have been using Art Club to practice construction skills with the LEGO, plasticine, and treasures in the found objects/ recycled materials area. They have also been creative with textiles such as wool and ribbons. And of course, they have been drawing and colouring as well. It is great to see such creativity amongst all year levels.

In Room 10, Year 6 students have been learning about Australian Federation. Part of this involved students researching the important people that had an impact on the federation of Australia. We investigated the early lives of these people and the career paths they took leading up to federation.

A ‘No Hat, Limited Outside Play’ policy is enforced at Byford Primary School all year. Parents can assist us by reinforcing the need for protection from the sun by ensuring that students have a wide brim hat. Hats can be purchased through the school uniform shop next to Room 3. Students who do not have a hat are instructed to play under sheltered areas such as the Undercover Area near the canteen. Caps are not acceptable as they do not provide adequate protection to the ears and back of the neck from the sun.
