Dear Families and Friends,

Welcome to the final Newsletter for the term. It is hard to believe that we have completed the first term of the school year already, it certainly has gone fast. A huge congratulations to the students on a successful term one, we have been very pleased with their attitudes towards learning and the work they have completed.

ANZAC Day Service
Byford PS will be holding our ANZAC Ceremony next week, Friday 11th April. The service will be held on the Blue Court starting at 9am. Each class will be laying a wreath, so we ask that on the morning of the service parents/carers send to school a small posy of flowers that can be used to create wreaths. Any parent or family members who are available to help with wreath making is welcome to join us in the Undercover Area from 8:00 – 8:50am. All parents and family members are welcome to join us at the service, we hope to see you there.

It is a day to celebrate all the different cultures that are a part of Australia. It is a reminder of the importance of multiculturalism and the need to create an inclusive society where everyone feels valued and respected. We celebrated by wearing orange, a symbol of Harmony Day, and engaging in multicultural activities.

As part of our Maths Trek program in ECE 3, we have been learning about Positional Language. Students had to describe the position and the location of themselves in relation to objects in our playground. Students had a great time finding and describing where they were in the ECE area.

Classroom Teacher

Wednesday lunchtimes in the art/science room we have held Art Club, and it has been a refuge from the heat this first term back at school. Students have been using Art Club to practice construction skills with the LEGO, plasticine, and treasures in the found objects/ recycled materials area. They have also been creative with textiles such as wool and ribbons. And of course, they have been drawing and colouring as well. It is great to see such creativity amongst all year levels.

Ms Jasmine Gasper

Art Teacher

In Room 10, Year 6 students have been learning about Australian Federation. Part of this involved students researching the important people that had an impact on the federation of Australia. We investigated the early lives of these people and the career paths they took leading up to federation.

Containers for Change

Please consider saving your drink bottles/cans and dropping them off to your nearest Containers for Change depot to be recycled and donating the proceeds to the Yr 6 Fundraising Committee. It’s so easy to do, just take your bag of cans/drink bottles to the Containers for Change depot and quote this number C10425624 to the cashier and you’ll be helping the environment and reducing the cost of the 2025 Yr 6 camp.  Containers for Change bins are also located at the school in the undercover area. So please remind your child/ren to recycle their juice boxes at lunch time too. The 2025 Fundraising Committee thank you for your continued support.

Hat_Sun.png

A ‘No Hat, Limited Outside Play’ policy is enforced at Byford Primary School all year.  Parents can assist us by reinforcing the need for protection from the sun by ensuring that students have a wide brim hat. Hats can be purchased through the school uniform shop next to Room 3.  Students who do not have a hat are instructed to play under sheltered areas such as the Undercover Area near the canteen. Caps are not acceptable as they do not provide adequate protection to the ears and back of the neck from the sun.
