Dear Families and Friends,

Welcome back to all our parents, carers and students to Term 3 and congratulations to our students on the wonderful way they have settled into their classes with their learning and re-connecting with their peers. Thank you to all our Staff for their dedication in their preparations to ensure a smooth start to the Term.

Thank you to all parents and carers in continuing to drop off and pick up your children as per the COVID-19 arrangements from end of Term 2. Your ongoing co-operation and support during this time is greatly appreciated. Please remember that physical distancing requires one person per 2 square metres. We await the Western Australian Government’s release of the next Phase of the WA COVID-19 roadmap with a tentative date of Saturday, 15 August, which may have an effect on some of our school operations.

It is great news that our Faction Cross Country Event is being held this week, Thursday 6th August 2020 for our Year 3 to 6 students and it has been terrific to see the students training enthusiastically in Fitness and Physical Education programs. Thank you to all staff involved in having this event in place, particularly with the co-ordinating by Ms Marchetti and Mr Way. We look forward to seeing many parents and families at the event.

All the best for the Term.

  • Byford Schools Sporting Association Interschool Athletics Carnival- 1 day of events - Thursday 24th Sept 2020

Phase 5 delayed to August 15th which limits the number of people attending an indoor event and the need for a 2 square metre rule.

Book_Week_Curious_Creatures.jpg
Friday 28th August is Book Week dress up day.  The theme this year is "Curious Creatures, Wild Minds".  Students can either wear a costume to represent the theme or dress up as their favourite character in a book.

We are pleased to announce the successful re-scheduling of our school Faction Cross Country Event which was obviously postponed in Term 2 due to COVID-19.

Our school Faction Cross Country Event will now be held in Week 3, Thursday 6th August 2020.

The event will be held in two parts on the Thursday morning due to continued COVID restrictions which limits the number of people attending an outdoor event and the need for a 2square metre rule.

Year 3 & 4 students will compete in their races from 8:45am to 9:40am.

Followed by Year 5 & 6 students competing in their races from approximately 9:40am to 10:40am.

We ask parents to only attend during these times to cheer on their specific aged children.

We are pleased to be able to hold our school Faction Cross Country Event, however there will not be an Interschool Cross Country Event due to time constraints in Term 3, as well as our preparations for the upcoming Interschool Athletics competition later this term.

We are looking forward to a fun Faction Cross Country Event as we build up to our Faction Athletics carnival later in the term.

Notes went home last week to our Byford Primary School Kindergarten students regarding our upcoming Hospital incursion.  The cost per child is $7.00 payable by Tuesday 4th August 2020.  Payment can be made in cash or cheque (made payable to Byford Primary School) or as a Direct Deposit: Byford Primary School,  BSB: 066 040   Acct: 19902028   Reference: Your child’s name/room number.

NAIDOC_Week.jpg

In the final week of term 2, Monday 29th June 2020, Byford Primary School students celebrated NAIDOC Day with a special day of activities learning more about Indigenous Culture. Classes joined together with students in small groups and they enjoyed completing fun NAIDOC activities which celebrate Indigenous culture.

Room_9_Book.png

Room 9 is learning about Aboriginal Culture in Term 3. We have participated in NAIDOC activities and we are also reading the book ‘Us Mob Walawurru’ written by David Spillman and Lisa Wilyuka.

Part of our NAIDOC activities included designing and decorating Aboriginal and Torres strait islander t-shirts and writing a story and a design that tells the story.

There are many different symbols to use to tell of different things happening and show the characters in the story.

Congratulations and well done to all students who received Merit Awards.  Keep up the great work!

Chaplain.jpg

Hi everyone

We are well into Term 3 and I would like to remind you all that as Chaplain in the role of ‘Pastoral Care’, I am available as a listening ear to students, parents, guardians and staff. This is a free service. It is not compulsory, but I am here to help support you.

“All meanings, we know, depend on the key of interpretation.” George Elliot (1819 – 1880). The thought for the week is to keep an open mind, to understand more and to hopefully fear less. Have a great week everyone, smile and feel it.

QuickCliq is our onling ordering system and it's an easy and convenient way to order your child’s uniform.  QuickCliq is approved by the Department of Education, it’s free, safe and secure.  You can use Paypal or Credit Card for immediate payment.  You can also use Direct Deposit.  To sign up, click www.Quickcliq.com.au

If you are unable to order online, order forms (with cash payment) can be left at the Front Office.  Please ensure there is a name and contact number provided.

Orders can still be placed at the Uniform Shop which opens Wednesday (fortnightly, same day as assembly) from 2:15pm - 3:00pm.

To ease the financial burden on families over the year, we encourage parents to make payments throughout the year, to be assigned to fees, excursions and swimming etc.  This can be as a regular weekly or fortnightly payment, or whenever you have some money available. See the Manager Corporate Services (MCS), in the front office to arrange this. They will be able to provide a breakdown of payments made, if required.
