In HASS the students were learning about places and spaces in their environment and how they were cared for. They have discovered how Perth (Boorloo) has changed over time and learnt about the traditional custodians, the Whadjuk Noongar people and their links to the land.

During our visit, students participated in The Koora Koora Kaarta Koomba educational program discovering the traditional lifestyles of the Noongar People in Kings Park and explored and connected with nature in the Rio Tinto Naturescape.

Congratulations to our year 5 students who nominated to be chosen to lead their faction as Faction Captain in 2023. On the morning of Wednesday 23rd November, these Year 5 students presented a speech to their faction outlining how they would help their faction be the best in 2023.

After these presentations, the Year 3, 4 and 5 students completed their votes for who they thought would be their best Faction Captain in 2023.

The results of these votes were presented at our End of Year Concert.

Congratulations to our four Faction Captains for 2023…

Apollo Faction Captain - Ava D

Mercury Faction Captain – Zach M

Venus Faction Captain – Finn DP

Zeus Faction Captain – Nathan G

On Thursday 24th November our Year 5 and 6 students participated in the BSSA Summer Carnival for 2022. It was disappointing that this carnival had to be postponed during term 1 due to Covid restrictions, however we were very happy to be able to reschedule the day’s events into Term 4.

We had a fabulous day at Briggs Park with our teams competing in tee-ball, basketball, and cricket tournaments. The students should be very proud of their efforts, they all played very well and had their best performance on display – we had some very close games across all three sports!

It was great to see the high level of sportsmanship amongst our students and we had some awesome skills on show across the grounds.

A big thank you to Mr G, Mrs Smith, and Ms Marchetti for their organisation, training and coaching on the day.

Great job, Byford Primary!

It was fantastic to see so many families and friends at our annual End of Year Concert. It was an amazing night to come together to celebrate all the achievements from 2022. Congratulations to all the staff and students for their excellent work creating, practising, and performing such entertaining concert items. It was a sensational effort by all to put on such an awesome show to end another successful year.

A big thank you to our amazing P&C fundraising team for their work organising the P&C raffle and cooking a sausage sizzle for families to enjoy for dinner. Thank you to our school community for supporting these fundraising initiatives to help raise funds for our school.

The concert event was a fantastic night of celebration and entertainment to end another successful year

Thank you for participating in Wonder Recycling Rewards! We are so proud of what we have achieved together. We have received the following items through collecting the soft plastics.

Christmas is so close, that you just want to stop, put your feet up, breathe a sigh of relief and relax. A good thought and definitely something to be looking forward to.

Another school year has just lightening bolted past.

1. Why did the chicken cross the road?

2. To check out all the Christmas lights of course.

Again, well done to everyone, students, staff, parent/guardians and significant adults. We have survived the everyday challenges brought to us by life and another year. To those whose journey with us has closed, may we remember them fondly and remember that our lives are all the richer for them.

A ‘Happy Holidays’ shout out to everyone. May you all have a great break.

May your relationships with family and friends be renewed, strengthened and grow stronger.

Thank you for everyone’s support and friendship this year. I hope that you all have a truly good Christmas. Keep safe, keep well and may you look forward to a new year and new experiences.  May I encourage you to be the person that you want others to be.

Sow a thought, reap an action.

Sow an action, reap a habit.

Sow a habit, reap a character.

Sow a character, reap a destiny.

Food for thought.

Peace and goodwill to everyone.

Have a great week everyone and may it bear good fruit.

Please DO NOT use this account for P&C payments

A big thank to all the executive and general committee members for their tireless efforts throughout the year. This year we farewell our secretary Kristy Gregory as her youngest child moves onto high school next year. Kristy has spent the last 6 years on the committee in the secretary’s position.  Thank you Kristy, your commitment has been truly amazing. After our AGM last Wednesday, we welcomed many existing members back for the 2023 committee. We have one more role to fill for the 2023 committee which is the fundraising coordinator position. If you are interested, please let us know. The first P&C meeting for 2023 is scheduled for the 15th February, everyone is welcome!

To the school community, thank you for all your continued support throughout this year. On behalf of the P&C I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy and safe new year! See you all in 2023!

P&C President

Containers for Change

Containers_for_Change.png

We’ve joined the Containers for Change team to raise money for the year 6 camp, whilst helping to make a real difference to the environment.  This will roll over to  the Year 6 Fundraising Committee every year.  Donation bins have been placed in the undercover, blue court and pre-primary areas for students to donate their used water/drink bottles, juice and milk boxes (please look out for the 10c icon on the side of the container).  If you wish to donate containers from your household, please quote our Scheme ID #C10425624 when you drop off your containers to the recycle drop-off points and the funds will automatically get deposited into our fundraising account.

Hat_Sun.png

A ‘No Hat, Limited Outside Play’ policy is enforced at Byford Primary School all year.  Parents can assist us by reinforcing the need for protection from the sun by ensuring that students have a wide brim hat. Hats can be purchased through the school uniform shop next to Room 3.  Students who do not have a hat are instructed to play under sheltered areas such as the Undercover Area near the canteen. Caps are not acceptable as they do not provide adequate protection to the ears and back of the neck from the sun.
