Dear Families and Friends,

Welcome to our Week 6 Newsletter. It is hard to believe that we are halfway through our last term of the school year. Already this term we have participated in many activities, be sure to check out the save the dates below to find out what else is happening this term.

Planning 2022

We are well underway with our planning and preparation for 2022. Part of this preparation for 2022 is class structures and placements. This can often be a stressful time for school staff and families. While we are planning class structures and placements it is important that we have as much information as possible to make informed decisions that best meet the needs of our students and school. Firstly, I ask that any families that are not planning on returning to Byford PS in 2022 to please let the office know. This will ensure that we have accurate projected enrolments and will hopefully reduce the risk of having to restructure classes once the school year commences. Secondly, if you have any class placement requests based on the educational needs of your child please also forward these onto me. It is important to note that with over 360 students it may not be possible to meet all requests, but all will be considered. Please email this required information to Byford.PS@education.wa.edu.au and attention it to Jody Harrington. I ask that all requests be sent to me by Friday 26th November (week 7) so we can finalise class lists. Class Lists for 2022 will be displayed at school during the last week of term, Tuesday 14th December. Thank you for your support.

Semester 2 Reports

Teachers have been working hard this term to prepare your child/ren’s final School Report for 2021. These will be emailed home to parents/guardians on Monday 13th December 2021. If you have recently changed your email address, or are unsure if the school has your most up to date email contact, please make contact with the front office to check. This will ensure all Reports make it home in a timely manner.

P & C AGM

BYFORD PRIMARY SCHOOL COMMUNITY WE NEED YOUR HELP!! The P & C Annual General Meeting (AGM) is being held on Thursday 2nd December. At this meeting all executive positions will become vacant. Our hardworking P & C has really struggled to get volunteers this year and we currently do not have all executive positions filled. The P & C won’t be able to continue next year without all executive positions filled and enough volunteers. The P & C is an essential part of our school supporting the school with essential services such as the canteen and uniform shop, as well as providing funding for learning resources, school improvements such as playgrounds, and contributing to the cost of services and activities such as the Chaplain and EduDance. I would like to thank the current committee, Year 6 Camp Fundraising committee and outgoing executives for their tireless work, countless hours of volunteer time and support this year under very challenging circumstances. Special thanks to Rishona Van Trier who held the position of President for the last several years and has worked incredibly hard on many projects to support our school over this time. We really need to see many new faces at this year’s AGM, and on the committee in 2022. If you would like to find out more about what is involved in the P & C please come along to the AGM to find out all about it. If you think you would be able to fill one of our executive positions President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary or Fundraising Co-ordinator, but would like to know more about the roles please come into school to see me. The AGM is being held on Thursday 2nd December, 6pm at Byford & Districts Country Club. Bring a friend and we will see you there!

End of Year Concert

I am pleased to advise that the End of Year Concert will be held at the school again this year, out on the oval. The date that has been set for the concert is Wednesday 8th December, and our theme this year is Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds. More detail including times, seating arrangements and a program will be sent home closer to the time. We look forward to celebrating another successful school year with you.

Hi everyone and I hope that you are all travelling well. It’s already Week 6 of Term 4 and Christmas is just down the road and around the corner. Yet another year has whirl winded past, leaving us jet lagged and ears ringing from the sonic boom as we passed Mach 1 super speed trying to get around to accomplishing everything that we need to do in our busy lives.

As the school chaplain I would like to remind everyone that I am Here for Students, Staff, Parents/Guardians and Significant Adult Figures. I’m here to listen and support you. Have a super week everyone. May you be able to find some space for peace and quiet.

Hat_Sun.png

A ‘No Hat, Limited Outside Play’ policy is enforced at Byford Primary School all year.  Parents can assist us by reinforcing the need for protection from the sun by ensuring that students have a wide brim hat. Hats can be purchased through the school uniform shop next to Room 3.  Students who do not have a hat are instructed to play under sheltered areas such as the Undercover Area near the canteen. Caps are not acceptable as they do not provide adequate protection to the ears and back of the neck from the sun.
