Dear Families and Friends,

Thank you to parents and carers for your smooth transition this week in entering school grounds to drop off and pick up children outside classrooms. As the term has progressed it has been wonderful to see our students back at school and settling well into their daily routines and learning programs since the COVID-19 interruptions. Our staff are working hard to ensure the teaching and learning programs continue smoothly and that our school facilities are maximized in availability.

Student Leaders Running Assemblies

Congratulations to our Assembly Councillors in leading our Assemblies that are conducted over the school P.A. system. Their organization and presentation skills are impressive and they show a great amount of confidence and team work in running the assembly.

Reporting to Parents

The COVID-19 situation this year has presented a wide range of challenges to schools in delivering teaching and learning programs, including gathering information to report to parents at the end of Semester One. With this in mind the Department of Education has outlined how schools undertake Reporting to Parents for Semester 1 2020. Thus our school Semester 1 Reports will be as follows:-

  • Reports for Pre-primary to Year 6 will not have an A-E grade or equivalent 5-point scale.
  • Reports will be on the usual Kindergarten, and Pre-primary to Year 6 Department of Education reporting templates
  • Comments in the Learning Areas will focus on what strands of learning the student has covered.
  • The Overall comment will focus on the student's overall progress particularly in Personal and Social Learning; Attitudes, Behaviour and Effort.

Reports will be emailed home Monday 29 June 2020.

School Photo Day is Coming!

Kapture_Photography_Logo.jpg

Our school photo day is coming! Kapture Photography will be at Byford PS on Thursday 25th June and the morning of Friday 26th June. Due to COVID-19 the photographers will be putting into place new procedures to ensure social distancing is observed at all times during the photo shoot sessions. This includes their staff, our staff and the students. Students will be photographed individually and then a class compilation will be made to replace the group photo from the past. Sibling photos are the only ones where more than one child will be photographed together. Please be assured all precautions will be taken over the two days to ensure the health and safety of everyone at school.

Approximately two weeks prior to the photo day every student will receive a Kapture Photography personalised flyer to bring home. The only method of ordering your photos is online through the Kapture website as your payment is secure and can be easily verified at any time.

Sibling orders can ONLY be placed online. Late requests cannot be granted.

You have the option to order a sibling photo package online, however please note sibling orders will close in most instances at 12-midday sharp, one business day before the first photo date. We suggest you place your sibling order as soon as you receive your flyer with your order instructions as places are limited.

Once your flyer has been received, log on to kapture.com.au for your sibling photo order cut-off date and time.

You can place an order online for class or individual photographs at any time for the remainder of the current school year. However, a $20 fee will apply if you order more than 10 days after photography.

If your child is in a special group photo, you can use the same school code on your information flyer to view and order these photos on the Kapture website, around the time that school photos are ready to be delivered. Please note class groups, individual and sibling portraits are not available to view online prior to purchase.

Kapture offer a money back guarantee for any parent who is not fully satisfied with their photo package. Should you have any queries before or after photo day, please direct them to the Kapture office on 9240 1714 or email enquiries@kapture.com.au.

All students will be photographed individually on photo day for school administration records AS WELL as included in their class group photo available for purchase to all families. Should there be any reason why your child should NOT be included in the photo shoot –please contact the school office.

School_Photos.jpg

For students who have a split family situation it is the responsibility of the custodial parent to pass the information on to the other parent about school photos.  Each individual parent is responsible for organising to order the photos they may be interested in.  Spare order forms are available at the front office for this purpose.

Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform for photo day.

Your child can only enrol in one of these programs.

Children born between July 1 2016 & June 30 2017 are eligible to apply for Public School Kindergarten.

Application forms are also available on our website https://byfordps.wa.edu.au/ or can be obtained from the Front Office.

Application forms for Pre-primary 2021 will be sent out to our current Kindergarten students.  Parents of children currently attending Kindergarten programs this year (2020) must apply at the school for Pre Primary placement in 2021 if you wish your child to continue attending Byford Primary School.  Please note, students residing outside our catchment area may still apply, however your application may not be successful.

Students in Pre-primary in 2020 will automatically roll over into Year 1 in 2021 and beyond. If your child will not be returning to Byford Primary School in 2021, please notify the School Office.

It should be noted that an application does not confirm placement for any child – selection criteria may apply. Application details will be used to assist the school in organising classes and placements for next year. Parents of children who are offered placement at Byford Primary School will be asked to complete formal enrolment details at that time. Unsuccessful applicants will be offered a place in a school as close to their residential location as possible or be referred to their local school in the case of Pre Primary students.

Applications required by Friday 24th July 2020.

All applicants will be advised of their child’s placement during Term 3 this year. Enrolment applications can be made through the school office between the hours of 9.30am to 2:30pm.

Children Unwell

Just a friendly reminder to parents, if your child is sick please keep them at home.  This helps to protect other students and our staff from getting sick and ensures our families remain healthy.

Room 3 have been turning our classroom into a gorgeous Autumn display. We put on our poetry hats and wrote an acrostic poem about autumn. We then made an autumn leaves repetitive drawing collage. We used a template to repeat trace and demonstrated depth by overlapping tracings. We had to be careful to only draw what we saw if another leaf was overlapping our initial drawing.

Room 2 loved reading “Owl Babies”. They created this beautiful art work of the baby owls.”

Congratulations and well done to all students who received Merit Awards.  Keep up the great work!

Hi everyone, I hope that you are all cruising along A-Okay. Here we are already half way through term and things are still changing. How do we cope with it all? I think we do it by being resourceful.

The pictures below give a visual of what resourcefulness means. I think that it is an outstanding quality, something that is reinforced at Byford Primary School through the energy and teaching passed onto students by all staff members at the school.

CC_Pic.png

Resourcefulness – to work out problems, to make do with what is available to create a solution, adapting well to new situations and finding quick clever ways to overcome difficulties.

I feel that COVID-19 has also pushed everyone to be more resourceful.

Spend some time together as a family having a chat about how we are being resourceful and perhaps how we can be more resourceful in the future. Food for thought.
