Australian Early Development Census (Pre-Primary)

The AEDC is a nationwide census of early childhood development that measures the progress of children as they start their first year of full-time school. The census involves teachers of children in their first year of full-time school completing the Australian version of the Early Development Instrument in a secure online data collection system. The information collected helps shape the future and wellbeing of our children by providing evidence to support education, health, policy and community planning, at the national, state, community and local level. The data collection will take place from 03 May to 02 July 2021. Detailed information about the data collection and a form to opt-out of the data collection will be sent home with pre-primary students next term.

On Friday 12th March Year 5 and 6 students participated in the BSSA Summer Carnival for 2021. We had a fabulous day with our teams competing in the tee-ball, basketball, and cricket tournaments. The students should be very proud of their efforts, they all played very well and had their best performance on display – we had some very close games! It was great to see the high level of sportsmanship amongst our students and we had some awesome skills on show across all sports.

A big thank you to Mrs Smith, Mr Way, Mr G and Mrs Riordon for their organisation, training and coaching on the day.

Great job, Byford Primary!

Years 5 and 6 have been learning about the rhythms used in Reggae music this term. Students have learnt the songs Get It Together and Listen to the Reggae Music, which use different combinations of the learnt rhythms. They then had a group task to compose their own music using the rhythms of Ta, Ti-ti and Tikka-tikka with a selection of musical instruments including vocals, body percussion, untuned percussion and melody instruments.

On Friday 19th March students participated in a range of activities to celebrate Harmony Day.  It was great to see students dressed in either traditional cultural clothes or wearing orange to support Harmony Day.  Below are photos showing some of the activities on the day.

Congratulations and well done to all students who received Merit Awards.  Keep up the great work!

Term 1 is winding up quickly and Easter is staring us in the face. Can I say, “Great job everyone!” Yes, I think I can.

It has been a privilege again being the quiet observer at the school, seeing how wonderfully all staff interact positively and purposefully with the students. It has been terrific to see the students respond with such a good manner. Their eagerness and energy at school is wonderful to observe.

Easter.jpg

As we head into the holidays, I hope that everyone can get in some rest and recreation. Easter is a reminder of new beginnings, life and freshening. It also is a hope for new things to come, like a new crop ripening, getting ready for the new harvest.

A way to grow your hope (Heart of hope muscle) is every day, try to think of three things that you are thankful for. Also think of one small thing that you can achieve the next day. Food for thought.

Have a WONDERFUL Easter, may your basket always be filled with hope, joy warmth and love.

To ease the financial burden on families over the year, we encourage parents to make payments throughout the year, to be assigned to fees, excursions and swimming etc.

This can be as a regular weekly or fortnightly payment, or whenever you have funds available.  See the Admin Staff in the front office to arrange this.  You will be provided a breakdown of payments made, should you require.

Payment options are as follows:

  • Cash
  • EFTPOS
  • Credit / Debit Card over the phone
  • Direct Deposit – Byford Primary  BSB: 066-040  Account No: 19902028

Please enter the name of your child and the purpose of the payment in the description field i.e. A Smith Zoo Exc.

Please DO NOT use this account for P&C payments

Hat_Sun.png

A ‘No Hat, Limited Outside Play’ policy is enforced at Byford Primary School all year.  Parents can assist us by reinforcing the need for protection from the sun by ensuring that students have a wide brim hat. Hats can be purchased through the school uniform shop next to Room 3.  Students who do not have a hat are instructed to play under sheltered areas such as the Undercover Area near the canteen. Caps are not acceptable as they do not provide adequate protection to the ears and back of the neck from the sun.
